Bath Guide:

Bath is a World Heritage Site located to the west of London. As the name suggests, it is known for its hot springs and baths and is thought to be a Roman city. There are many locations here which make it a brilliant city to visit and explore.

Things to see and do in Bath

Dating back to roman times of around 2000 years ago, the Roman Baths are a very popular tourist attraction. The source of bath water are mineral hot springs, one of its kind in England and producing millions of litres of water a day. It is a learning experience as well as you can explore the history of Bath Spa and its very popular archaeology. Some of the ‘bath’ water is also served in restaurants here and must be tasted!

Another brilliant construct is the Royal Crescent, which is a set of houses designed by John Wood, and dating back to 1774. One of the houses can be visited to see how 18th century houses appeared as they have been redecorated to depict this. There is also a crescent shaped lawn just outside the front of the houses which is beautifully maintained.

Even better is Parade Park, which may require a small admission fee but is a well thought out place which is suited to lazy afternoons and family picnics alike.

The Building of Bath Museum is an exciting experience and is a great depiction of the history of the making of the Georgian city. It uses wooden models which provide a good look at the building and structure of Georgian houses as well as the furniture they contain. Some builder’s tools which date back to the 18th century are also found here.

The nightlife in Bath is slightly limited with a major emphasis on commercial dance and popular music. However, it has the benefit of being very close to London and Bristol, both of which are major clubbing destinations in the UK. There are still some themed and specialist nights in some clubs, the only effort required is the finding of posters and flyers that provide this information. Generally popular options include The Blue Rooms and The Second Bridge.
